I downloaded and ran a program the other day that I believe had a virus. Actually I know it had a virus because people that commented about the download even said it has a virus and I just didn't read that before the download. Now when I am in Normal Mode the computer gets the BSOD before I can even do anything (usually about under 30 seconds). I have been doing research and someone posted a topic about a virus called Rustock. That virus describes everything that is happening to my computer. Also the Virus Heat looks like it could be too. I have Vista as the OS. I have another computer that is fine with XP that I have been reading online and downloading a couple of programs to run to try and clear it. Can anyone please help to what I should do with this? I read something that the Rustock would have a file in the registry name PE386. I went into the right subfolders and cannot find anything of the similiar.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.

Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    Note:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

Can I do all these steps in Safe Mode? I cannot use Normal Mode at all.
