I already have anti-malware protection (lots of it). Bearing in mind that Norton releases the heaviest of products should I completely uninstall the current protection ,before trying 360 , or disabling the resident shields would be enough?

I just installed it. It's my first beta testing. Do you think I may lose any files, as Symantec warns?

This is driving me crazy! I suspect it is 360 relevant because it appeared just after I installed it. Ever since then there is an app eating 100% CPU constantly! It is appSvc32.exe. Anyone else having the same prob?

There is going to be a patch from symantec that will "fix" this problem. Soon. :)

I have also played with this program, but after running into that issue, I removed it, and now await the patch.

Great! I installed this autofix and tried to check for updates as it said there. Now I can't stop Norton from scaning for updates . I thought to uninstall it and go back to my beloved Spybot and avast! but then I said "come on that's what beta testing is all about". And while I am trying to react my pc is crawling because of that app.

That's the auto scan though it only uses %80 of my AMD 64 Venice 3000 with 1GB.

I'm quite surprised at it's small footprint, my commit charge went from 460 to 415MB after removing AVG, Spybot and ZA, doesn't slow anything down that I've seen and doesn't continually try to update AFAICS. The only thing I haven't liked so far is their PC Tuneup which deleted my browser history though I hope there's a switch somewhere. I'm quite surprised, installed quickly and easily unlike their other attempts. I never thought I'd say 'not bad' for a Norton product but so far it's been good. We'll see in the longer term.

well if I don't try to acess the tasks & settings or "fix issues" nothing happens but if I ,for example I try to update, nothing can stop it.

I installed the beta and noticed that I didn't have the ability to scan files via the context menu (right clicking)... Anyone else notice this with the beta?

Norton kept crashing my IE. It would not update, the update went on forever and didnt stop. The tray icon kept disappearing. Plus the online backup only offers 150 MB, which isnt alot.

tried it on my lappy for a few days, seemed ok didn't use much as far as resources go, but as with Blades I had no tray icon 3 out of 4 times the comp booted, and also it seems to want to do everything while the computer is idle(eg updates, scans etc). seeing as though im folding 24/7 its never idle, so nothing ever got done. I also like to be fairly hands on with my security and its customization options are pretty limited. But it looks like it would be very good for those that just want to install security and forget about it.

Folding had no effect on it that I can see as I also fold 24/7 during the winter but trying to bring up the menu got me a send/don't send MS error popup. It is a beta so I won't bash it, it's not that bad but it's coming off of my rig now as I won't beta test for them. They may have done something right finally. I haven't 'caught anything yet'.

yeah thats what i thought, but it was installed for about 4 days. After install the summary said 7 processes pending these will be performed next time you are away from your computer. comps on 24/7 and it seems I was never away from the computer. Still had 7 processes pending when I decided to remove it. Not bashing it I quite liked it and was suprised at how little resources it was using.

mine started ruuning a little smoother. It now updates but needs some minutes to do so. Scans are fine (of course I can scan only when I leave the house, cuz if I wait for it I'll starve in front of the screen) but I can't do the back up. When i click "configure" it loads and loads and loads and then loads again until i cancel it. The right-click scan is very convenient with other AV . I don't see the reason why they didn't add it. Previous Symantec AV has it.
