Norton Antivirus 2003 Virus Defintion Problem

every time i run live update to update my virus defintions,then when i run norton antivirus 2003 main window it shows my virus defintions date unchanged.i just downloaded defintions for august 18,and it still shows my defintions to be from august 6,the date wont change,and it thinks that my definitions are old,and im force to keep reupdating my defintions.i keep on having to download the same pacage.this sucks can someone help,the symantec website was no help,and this never happened before since i installed norton antivirus 2003 8 months ago.I dont want to reinstall Norton antivirus 2003,since dont have that much time on my hand.i tried everything,restarting the computer,running live update again,enabling and disabling it over and over again.help please!

 

I've had similar problems with Norton's Antivirus 2002. And come to think of it... I've had nothing but problems with Norton's. I figured out that... when updating, if there is an update for the actual program Norton's Antivirus, you have to install it first thing and by itself. Did you see any updates for the program itself? If you did, then my guess is... that's your problem. You have to install it first, and deselect everything else. Install the other stuff afterwards. It's a little to late to tell you that now, and I'm not even sure you understand what I'm saying. But hopefully you do... sorry I couldn't help more.

 

trex i understand u completly,thanks for trying to help out your a real pal,but ive downloaded all the updates and program updates for antivirus ,and thers nothing left to update.thanks anyways.i hope its not too late,and i dont think it is.

 

Meh, I can not comment on the state of Norton software, but the Symantec team is very smart, if you look at some of their papers you'll see decompiled ASM code fragments, packet dumps, IDS signatures for all types of IDSes, etc.

 

by the way,.anyone know the officail release of norton antivirus 2004.

Not sure why you won't want to reinstall it, as it would probably take about 5 mins. Just uninstall it, reboot and install it again.
