    Here we go again,
I just got xp pro up and running. I installed NAV2004. When the subscription info came up i realized my date was off by a year. So i changed the date and ran the program. All of a sudden i get a message saying to renew my subscription. I just bought it! I tried uninstalling but then when i reinstall it dosnt ask for my cd key, and it still says my subscription expires today. How can i fix this. Do i have to edit my Reg.

You are about to get a lot of replies like this:
You should uninstall Norton -clean up it's registry mess and install something else...like http://majorgeeks.com/download955.html .
I'm not trying to ignore your question at all, friend -but you will find that this is by far a better solution.

    Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply. I think i am going to do what you suggested. When i clean out the registry what would be the best way to clean that stuff out? Just go through and look for norton info?

As far as I know Norton's site has a guide to uninstalling that will take care of many of the the registry entries...aside from that Iwould sugest running a registry cleaner (always choose the 'backup' function before you delete). Registry cleaners are very usefull but they can suggest deleteing necesary files if you are not carefull -so be conservative. -if the reg cleanear says it has found a file with 'NAV' in the string than you can confidently delete it -unfortunately it's not always that easy.
Run a Registry cleaner (try the most poplular found right here on MG's "http://majorgeeks.com/download2048.html") and delete whatever you think is obviously a part of NAV. -but first check out Norton's official site on how to remove NAV and Norton Firewall.
If you have other questions I will try to answer but hopefully other geeks will jump in.
    Yours,
    522.

Any questions you have I will try to answer: but I have a feeling that the more specific you get the more we will need other Kats to jump in.
    I can confidently say this:
    1) Norton is uneccesary and troublesome
    2) there are freeware apps out there that are actually better than Norton (I put a link to one above)
    3) Norton does not Uninstall easilly via the 'Add/Remove Programs'
    4) A registry cleaner is helpfull in this situation and in others
    5) a reg cleaner can suggest deleting keys that are necesarry so BACK UP your registry b4 you delete entries.
    6) there aye many more people on this board who know WAY more about ALL of this that I do.
    -hope I helped,
    522.
