Norton antivirus problem

i have a norton antivirus thats 2005 edition it recently downloaded a update that wont update it says uninstall and reinstall product feature not supported the security came with the computer i dont have a cd to reinstall it i did system restore and it gave me three months free so it is all up to date except for it keeps popping up saying uninstall and reinstall at start up after it boots into windows
