Howdy, Well this might be a dumb question, but I,m an old guy and dont know much about computors :-D

My new computor came with Norton and the trial period is almost up. A pop up tells me that I will have no protection if I dont renew. Is this true ? Will my Norton Antivirus just stop working when the trial period is over ?

Can I install one of the free antivirus programs and get good protection ?

Thanks in advance for your help !!

    Hi

Yes, it means that if you don't pay for the full version, it will no longer update your virus definitions. These change constantly and it's very important to have the latest.

I would suggest uninstalling Norton with this tool: http://majorgeeks.com/Norton_Removal_Tool_d4749.html

You should then take a look at this thread: How to Protect yourself from malware!

There are lot of free programs out there that are just as effective.

I personally use Avira and have been very happy with it.
