Norton Antivirus

Hi,

I seem to keep getting the problem with Norton Antivirus.

Once it is installed I cannot get online using my AOL account. AOL keeps saying that MCafee Firewall Pro is stopping it but the firewall is allowing all AOL files access to the internet and even when I close the firewall down it keeps happening. I need to get online to activate Norton but it just won't allow me at all, but when I uninstall Norton everything goes back to normal. Why does Norton seem to block AOL?

 

What is the full product name, and version?

Are you CERTAIN it doesn't have a firewall component?

 

Well it is Norton Antivirus 2005, surely though if this had a firewall with this product it would still allow me to go online to activate it first before it decided to block anything?!?

 

How about if you uninstall Mcafee firewall?

Don't close it down. Actually uninstall it.

I have learned one thing.........Never, never install 2 firewalls on the same computer. Especially Norton/McAfee. I still have nightmares about that indicent. In fact, I would remove both and put something like AVG/Kerio on the computer or some other free AV/FF as suggested by this board.

Norton tends to be very intrusive, you might have to remove the McAffee Firewall from the registery after uninstalling via add/remove programs.
