bd Bladerunner 0.80a is consistently setting off my worm blocker. It seems to happen right when I boot up and I think it might be interfering with my homepage, though it doesn't seem to bother any other pages.

The message in the Norton activity log is this -

Details: Attempted Intrusion "BD Blade Runner 0.80a" against your machine was detected and blocked.
    Intruder: localhost(5400).
    Risk Level: High.
    Protocol: TCP.
    Attacked IP: localhost.
    Attacked Port: 3075.

I will get this message maybe 15 times, each time the attacked port number changes, then no more.

My question, which I could not find on Norton's site, is this - does this mean I am actually protected from this worm? If so, why is it targeting my computer so actively?

Thanks in advance for your help

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Yes based on the info you provided it does appear that Norton is blocking the problem. As to why it is happening each time you boot up is a little worrysome. I think you should follow the steps below so we can determine if you have malware problems local to your PC.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

Download HOSTER and then follow the below steps.
    • Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster
    • Run Hoster.exe, click Restore Original Hosts and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis
