I purchased Norton Internet Security today and Norton Ghost v 10.0 also came in the pack. I installed it fine but I can't figure out how to use it. I went on the symantec website but I encounter problem I haven't found an answer to.
I followed all the steps and so it directed me to create a complete backup of my harddrive. Drive E:\\ is the DVD drive the Norton ghost cd was in so that was the default. I figure I can't write on the disc because it's protected but.. why are there folders like "My Documents" and "My Pictures" on the disc that are empty then? This is the error that comes up. If someone who works with Norton Ghost could point out what's wrong and how I can use it properly, I would be very grateful :)

I tried to create the backup on a folder on the desktop and that worked but how am I supposed to boot from it incase of an emergency?

I think the original disk you were trying to write the image to was the Norton Ghost disk that you use to enter the "recovery emviornment"... Which would be used in case windows fails to boot. That's why it already contained folders like "My Documents" and "My Pictures" on it. If you boot your machine with that disk it should allow you to enter a windows like environment (in case windows won't boot) which will allow you to access Ghost and the image you want to restore.
