Norton Internet Security Problem

Hey I wondered if anyone could help me with norton internet security/antivirus. I have had it for a few months now, and have had no problems, but just recently, it has been playing up, and i dont know what the hell the problem is?! I can log onto the internet, but cannot view any websites or my aol buddlist unless norton internet security is disabled, which then means I have no protection while I am on the internet, but if it is enabled then I cannot go on any sites anyway!?
If anybody could help me with this i would really really appreciate it!!

You need to configure firewall rules and rule sets for programs that require web access.

Norton like most products has an "Automatic Program Control" function.
