Norton Problems

A couple of weeks ago I got the latest Beagle Virus, (supposedly caught and quarantined by Norton, but the file was not in the Norton quarantine file) which I finally got cleaned up using Stinger as suggested by a good MajorGeeks poster. Now, I have a couple of problems with Norton. First, it does not start up when I start the computer, and second, I cannot update my virus definitions. I am running Windows ME.

Any suggestions?? (other than dumping Norton)??

 

I know you don't want to consider dumping nortons but:

I was an avid fan of nortons until I tried esets nod32 about a year ago. On my initial install and system check it found 4 worms that nortons had allowed thru!!!! Also the scan took about 1/3 the time to complete and my computer ran alot faster!!! NOD32 isn't a resource HOG like Nortons.
Also, its a free trial with free auto definition upgrades for 30 days. If after 30 days you still can't afford it just delete it and reinstall it. it only takes 5 minutes and your good for another 30 days. I assure you...Try it! You will love it!

If you do dwnld and try nod32 please don't forget to un install Nortons first and reboot

I assume I will need to uninstall Norton through add/delete program?

 

Yes add/remove will remove the main guts of it although there will be remnants in your registry. To clean it out completely (or as much as possible) got the symantec site and look for info of what else you will need to do.

Having more than one antivirus prog on your pc is a nono.
