I just downloaded the new Norton Utilities software and everytime I restart my computer the Windows Automatic Updates is turned off and there's a big red X by the Norton taskbar icon.

I go into the Norton home center, click on security basics and then click Windows Automatic Updates, which is currently reading "off." When I click it, the drop-down gives me only one choice which is to turn automatic updates "off."

So, see, it's already off or thinks it's off and then I have to click on "turn automatic updates off" Then I get the option to "turn automatic updates on" which I do and then I get the nice green check mark on my taskbar. So do I need to reinstall the norton software or is there a virus or malware turning off my automatic updates everytime I turn on the computer?

If you're concerned about malware, I would recommend that you read this thread.

But, what is the setting for automatic updates UNDER automatic updates in control panel? I would try first to make sure that BOTH the control panel and NU are set the same.
