Norton virus scan

I bought Norton systemworks (including antivirus) 2002 last year and have since upgraded to 2003. When I first used the "full system scan" it scanned about 60,000 files, then slowly the files scanned kept growing. Now I scan over 120,000 files taking twice as long as it used to. I'm curious as to why the number of files is growing. I do download some stuff, but I don't think it's that much. I use the other parts of systemworks to clean up the computer also.

 

clear your internet cache, it's a good bet a lot of those files are related to that. I tcould also be the amount of files that you have in your system restore partition, more resotre points=more files.

You might want to try running a program like window washer to clean up extra files.

 

I have System Works 2003 and have noticed this also. It's nothing to worry about. I think it has to do with what type of files you download or add to your system. A music file is just one file but a program can be hundreds of files. There are also junk files that grow on your computer that System Works doesn't catch (I think). The total amount of files will fluctuate up and down. As you add more software to your computer the more files there will be.

I'm no pro. I'm just going by experience.

 

You could easily reassure yourself and verify how many files and folders you have... there's several ways you could do that.
