Norton WMI update problem

hello. i've had this problem for a while now, just never got around to fixing it.
the problem is, whenever i try to scan something with norton antivirus (2003),
it says "preparing to install...", then an error pops up that says "A product that requires norton WMI update is still installed on this system." i puch ok and it does this a few more times, then exits. i have run liveupdate, and it says i've got all and need. it also tells me that Norton WMI update is installed on my system. can someone please help me with this?

hello. i just decided that i want to uninstall norton and switch to avast, but i can't uninstall it. not from add/remove programs, and not from the uninstall thing is the norton folder. it says i'm missing nav.msi in c:\hp\tmp\src\NAV\, but when i browsed around for it, i found that i had no "tmp" folder there. can someone please help me with this then?
