Not able to Back-up on Near-Empty External HD??

    Is E a partition you created? Also it helps to mention the OS because with so many people posting, we do not remember what version of windows everyone is running.

    Sure, I apologize - I'm running Vista Home/Basic on this Desktop-PC.

    As far as "E" is concerned, I "named" it, but it's an external Hard Drive, connected via USB . . . (I don't really know how to create a partition [?]...at least not by myself).

    Next question: what backup program are you running?
    Not all programs allow you to backup to an external hard drive. (I don't use backup programs, I prefer to do full images but I have looked at a few backup programs).

    Thanks plodr - - "Backup and Restore Center" ... MS-Windows? I suppose that's what came with Vista ... here's a screen-shot ...
