I am the only one who has access to my computer. I have in the past been able to install and delete programs. Here recently I am told I do not have administrative writes. What can I do??? "My operating system is windows vista"

Can you right click the file you want installed and select "run as administrator"?

What are you trying to do? Are you able to uninstall programs or are you having difficulty with that? Can you log into the Admin. account?

Also, to check if you are the admin on the computer:

    Click "start" then control panel.

If using non-classical, click User accounts, then user accounts again, then you should see if you are really running as an administrator. If not, you could also click "Manage another account". Then you should see other accounts that are on this computer.

I wanted to reply sooner with these instructions, but I'm on windows 7, and you are vista. I had to reload vista as a VM.

If using classic view, then goto user accounts. To see other accounts, click "Manage another account".

I checked user account, and I am loged on as administrator. It still tells me I do not have permission.

When I right click, and go to administrator, it will not let me continue

odd. Can you create another account, with admin privs and try it?

Or, you could try the following, though, it may be painful. :)

Click the Start button, then type in cmd, then when cmd pops up in the menu, right click cmd, then choose, run as administrator.

A command windows (old dos) appears, now do the following (for example, since I have no idea where the file you have downloaded...heh...this is just a test)

    cd\
    cd users\%username%\desktop
    icacls nameoffile /grant username:F
    exit
    then try again.
