    My computers stats are:
    HP Pavilion
    Pentium III 900 MHz
    256 SDRAM
    running windows xp home sp2

I have noticed lately I can count at least to 90 before programs will start. Also, hangs up often (having to end task or shut down). Takes a while to load. I don't know if its malware. I have uninstalled programs that I didn't use (being careful to reasearch fully before I did) and have used CCleaner to clean registry. Have performed defrag. I realize I should upgrad at least the ram (I was though it was 512 but found out differently). Have run through complete READ ME RUN ME list and here are my logs. Would you be so kind as to tell me if there is any malware on my system. Thanks.

You problems are not due to malware based on your logs! I personally would not run XP on such a slow PC with so little RAM. Even though MS says it will run, it is really a matter of how well will it run and for how long.

I suggest you look at the below link for other tips since there are no malware problems being reported

Basic computer maintenance everyone should do

Thank you for taking a look. My mother and I both thought there was 512 ram but found out differently. Looking into adding more. I took a look at that link and was pleasantly surprised that I have done all of that so the computer should be operating a maximum potenial anyway. Must upgrade ram! Thanks again.

    You're welcome.

While adding more RAM can help, it is not a cure all. By todays standards a 900 Mhz PC is rather slow. Especially when you consider all the things you need to have running just for security purposes.

One last quick question and then I'll leave you to fight more malware. Do you think it would be more economic to buy a new (different) system?

What is your financial state? How much you are willing to spend will determine what you can get. Also do you want to build your own or buy a pre-built PC and from who.....etc. This is a topic better suited for the Hardware Forum.
