but, in an attempt to update my chipset, I screwed up because the read me was geared more toward those with more understanding than I have (should have come here first:-o), so how do I get things back to the settings prior to my mess up?

I tried system restore but it does not appear to have undone/rolled back the settings. What did happen post update, was the removal of my overclocks (cpu, ram, gpu) and to knock out my front usb connection as well as change my audio by not recognizing my sound card and initiating onboard sound so that I have no sound.

If it will help here is my dxdiag: View attachment DxDiag.txt

PS: I wouldn't mind getting back to when I built the computer and it was running very well without the update attempts (not blaming another, but someone looked at a previous dxdiag and scolded me for not having his suggested updates)
