This is what I originally posted in the malware forum. They said I have no malware issue to come post in software next. So here I am.

I have run the malware scans. My wireless keeps kicking me off. When I try to use the internet in anything other than safe mode I keep getting an error saying that IE has stopped working and needs to restart. Google Chrome keeps messing up. It will be fine then when I restart my computer and try to open chrome it says that files are missing and can not open, so I have to redownload it. The computer turns off randomly. Last night it restarted on its own. When it did restart it started in recovery mode saying that windows shut down unexpectedly and needed to repair. When I ran that it said it could not be repaired. Files that are named desktop.ini keep popping up EVERYWHERE.

You don't mention what version of windows you are running as well as how you connect wirelessly to the internet (modem & router brands are needed) your ISP, if there are any other computers on the network as well as version of IE.

Just curious. If you click start, then right click computer, properties, select advanced properties, click settings under "Startup and recovery"
    What do you have?

Also, check event viewer for any yellow or red issues. Post them here.

I just removed that update. Rebooted and my Google Chrome is still here. Before every time I rebooted the computer the chrome files would be missing. So that is a good sign.

That sounds like one unusual update Microsoft released...

Hope that solves your problem aatmwilson

So far it seems to have done the trick. I have been playing around on the computer and nothing has happened. Thanks for the help :) Glad I didnt get the BSOD because the repair disc that Microsoft released is for a 32 bit and mine is 64. I would have been screwed.

OK...I think that you got the minidump is a good sign. If I recall correctly, the update problem was causing reboots with no mini dump created.

Still, and I am no expert on Windows 7, it seems to me you might be in for a little bit of a battle here.

Can you run a Chkdsk /r? Maybe this will fix the problem...

Can you post that dump file here?

I cant upload it. It says its an invalid file extension. But its done it again. I dont have anything too important on my computer. Everything I need is saved in dropbox. Could I just restore to factory settings?

    aatmwilson...

zip the file first, then attach it.

As for restoring, do you have a copy of your version of Windows 7? If so, there are some repair options on the disk. Not sure if this is what you meant by restoring to factory settings...

Can you boot into Windows at this time?
