My sister n laws pc is actting a little odd. When you turn the power on the monitor does not come on (the power light is off also) and there is a steady beeping sound omitting from the tower. She has tried changing the monitor to see if it was the monitor but it still does the same thing. Any ideas on this one?

ok she says she tried changing the monitor to see if hers had gone out and the 2nd monitor has no power what so ever, but (in correction to my first post) her monitor has the dim yellow light like it is in sleep mode and is stuck there and when you push the power button on the monitor you can feel and hear the click of the button but nothing changes

The intermitent beeping you hear is most likely a POST(power on self test) code.
This has nothing to do with the monitor it is just not completing it startup( so no signal to the monitor.
Did you move or install anything in the pc? as this (post codes)are usually a sign of loose or problematic/broken hardware (check those connections)

As these are specific to the manufacturer of the motherboards ,you need to find out what the name and model # of the board are then post back with specs.

I use bel arc advisor(available here at MG) to find out alot of info about the pc w/o opening it.

I cannot get the tower up to do a general specs so i pulled the side off. I have one sticker that says bestec and the model number is ATX-250-12Z Rev.;d2. On the board itself it has MS-6577 VER; 4.1 pci1. I cannot find anything else as far as name brand, model number or anything else inside the case. Any suggestions?

Is the video an onboard or a pci card video?
Your onboard may have taken a dump ...so if you could borrow a pci video card to test, would be a good step.
