    Hi all!

I don't know where else to post this....no idea if something somehow got onto my computer and caused this....

A few minutes ago I was just closing the windows I had open so I could turn my computer off, when it suddenly rebooted on its own. When it finished starting up I began to receive block notifications from Zone Alarm for everything...things I shouldn't be seeing them for. I opened up ZA and it seems to have been reset! All the programs I had permissions set for are gone and it's like I've just installed ZA for the first time.

Then....when I opened up Firefox, it seemed almost like it had been reset too. All the toolbars were showing and I usually only have two visible.

I have ZA, Avast, and SuperAntiSpyware running, and I also scan with S&D and AdAware regularly. I hadn't been doing anything on the internet other than being on the forums here.

Any idea what might have happened? :confused

No idea. It sounds like registry settings or configuration files were lost/changed or reset to defaults. It does not sound like malware. At least none that I have heard of yet. You could check by running the READ & RUN ME, but I'm not sure we will find anything that would cause this.

What are you use for antispyware protection?

    Hi Chaslang,

As I mentioned, I have SuperAntiSpyware, Avast, and ZA running. I scanned with SAS, Avast and S&D, and have come up clean so far. Last night when I started my computer up it rebooted just before everything loaded. I have it set now so it will show me the error instead of automatically rebooting.

I'm going to try running a few more scans to see if I can find anything. It's just how ZA and Firefox were reset that have me suspicious. Strange.

Thanks for your input - I'll let you know if I find anything as far as malware.

    ;)

If you are using the free version of SUPERAntiSpyware, it does not protect you from malware. It is only an after the fact scanner. This is why I specifically asked "What are you use for antispyware protection?" You need realtime antispyware protection as stated in the How to protect yourself from malware sticky thread which was given to you in your last two Malware Forum threads.
