Hey yall ! I am having a small problem. I recently update to the Vista SP2. It seems like after this installation I am having problems with my network. I can not get my Itunes connected to the store and I could not get a program for my Blackberry to update. I have tried and tried all kinds of stuff and I am really not sure what to do. As I was running some tests on my command prompt I got the System Error 53 message. Maybe yall can point me in the right way rather then me just googling everything and getting tons of different ways. I thought I would include this if this will help. Thanks to all in advance!!

I have uninstalled Mcafee, Re-installed Itunes, all sorts with no avail. So I am completely frustrated.

I have posted this in Vista Forums and can't get any help there and I have been on this site before and always get my problems fixed here! So I am back!!

have you tried unplugging your router counting to ten and then plugging it in again. your system is getting an ip address but can not get past the router. it sounds like it might be router issue

Well I have messed with the router and still cant figure anything out. Is there anything I could change on the route website?

are the only sites you have trouble with the ones you listed already or are there others?

I don't have any problems with sites its up dates on itunes and things from adobe air with twitter apps. I also couldn't get my mcaff (sp) virus thing to reload and update.

why don't we try this. uninstall mcfee and install a different AV. your current AV if it is the suite is known to cause connection issues. we can try that and see if the issue changes or stays the same. there are many free AV apps you can use on this site

Okay, did that. Don't think I got anywhere with it either. Could it be something with SP2 ? That or I had to reset my router settings because I forgot my password and it seems around there when all this started happening.

Geezeeeee, I wanted a weather app on my desktop so I download Weatherbug. Same things as everything else, can't find a connection. I reset/reinstalled my TCP/IP last night and that didn't seem to do anything. I also tried to re-download SP2 but it wouldn't let me because I already had it installed. Should I wipe my computer and start fresh or what? Someone has to have some ideas. I have spent to many hours searching and trying stuff.

Ok your now getting an ip address which is more then you getting before. so the reinstalling tcp/ip has worked for that. now as for your current issue, can you connect to any websites? go to the command window and type"ping google.com" without the quotes, and post the result here please.

do you have windows firewall on? if you do turn it off and try to connect with the apps your having trouble with. you can do that by going to your network connection and properties/advanced.

Okay, my firewall is off and it looks like that doesnt have any effect on anything. I went through the Command Prompt steps to turn off Teredo. Still nothing. I am not running any virtual PC or anything.

    Hi

Please name all the security software you have installed on your PC, even ones you may have tested and didnt like then removed, and if it was a shop bought one from say DELL, HP etc did it come with Norton as a trail?

What if any error messages does iTunes give you when you try to connect?

Do you have any popup blockers installed, if so uninstall them.

Check in Services, that the Apple "Bonjour Service" is started and automatic, if not start it and then set the Startup Type to Automatic, reboot and try again.

Maybe worth flushing the local DNS Cache: to do this you need to click Start and type cmd in the start search box and then right click and choose run as administrator the cmd icon, then at the cmd prompt type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter, do this twice.

Run the iTunes diagnostic from Help > Run Diagnostic, all we need is the network test, so untick the others, then save and attach the log.

Okay, Im not honestly sure what my HP came with, maybe Nortons? But it is gone. I downloaded Mcaffe because I got a free code from my internet provider but it has been deleted and completely uninstalled with the uninstall tool.

Itunes could not connect to the Itunes Store. The network connection timed out. Make sure network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again. That is the error message.

I have adblock plus and better privacy installed on my Firefox via add-ons. I will disable them and see if it has any effect with other connections.

The Bonjour service was running and is set to automatic.

I just did the CMD prompt.

I have attached the Itunes log.

    Hi

Even when you uninstall Norton its not all removed so run this tool Norton Removal Tool

Your version of iTunes is out of date, do uninstall run Ccleaner to get rid of any left overs ( run the cleaner and registry tools, and run the registry one until nothing is listed) and then re-install the lastest x64 version 8.2.1.6

As you seem to be running off WiFi at present, if possible plug in to the modem/router via ethernet and check can you connect.

Do you need to be running via a proxy? disable to test http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1490 Just had another look and HTTP Proxy: 127.0.0.1:8080 is localhost, have you had malware reciently? or have you scanned for malware, especially if you have not setup any proxy.

enable TLS1.0 support as yours is disabled http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1470

Then see how you go, maybe worth a reboot after all that lot.

WOW, the proxy thing did the trick. Itunes worked and I have tested other applications and they have worked. Now the question is, with proxy disabled, is it safe to run or what is the next step?

    Hi great stuff.

I dont know what added that Proxy line, check your ISP to see if they have setting up your connection with a Proxy, but dont think they will as you you are connecting ok to internet and now via iTunes, this issue is fixed.

I have a feeling this is left over from a malware infection, so if you had any of late, then do run the Read and Run Me guide in the Malware forum and then start a new thread their, attach the logs requested and get the malware folk to have a look, but as you disabled the proxy then this is likely to be doing nothing now, but well worth a malware experts review.
