I have Malawarebytes and a free version of Advanced System Care 6 but I am not sure about this program I wonder if someone can advise me of a good free anti virus download.

Avast is sure and steady and gets high marks across the board. MSE gets high marks too...

Malwarebytes is the best malware tool in the business I think, although I have heard Kaspersky is very good too...

MBAM and Avast or MBAM and MSE would be a good combination if you're going to run two...

I'll second that AtlBo, Avast and Malwarebytes are my combinations too, I al;so throw in SuperAntiSpyware on 2 of the 4 because they get used the most.

The free versions of both ASC6 and MBAM are 'on demand' scanners, i.e. you run them yourself to clear out malware and spyware that has already invaded your system, but neither is an antivirus program. AVs such as Avast and MSE run in real time and intercept virii and other nasties before they can embed themselves in your system. You have to choose just one AV as running two causes system problems but you can have as many 'on demand' scanners installed as you like.

I wouldn't care to comment on which is the best AV. I have used AVG, Avast and MSE and all were effectrive, but I find MSE the least intrusive so that's what I've been using the past 2 years.
