Would someone here be so kind as to verify for me exactly
what would be best (for "matching" purposes) to this RAM in my screenshots here please?

Everything seems to conflict to me here( if ever-so-slightly, but Ive made FAR TOO MANY MISTAKES WITH TECH OVER THE YEARS AND I AM "TRYING" SO HARD TO GET IT RIGHT FOR ONCE).

he Crucial Scan, the http://majorgeeks.com/SIW_System_Info_d4387.html] SIW System Info prog., and what I'm actually SEEING in the machine all differ a it, and Crucial is offering DIFFERING VOLTAGES (1.35V & 1.5V), and I wish SO BADLY to match it IDENTICALLY.

If I have to I am HAPPY to pull the existing RAM out, and flip it over to look/see what additional info we might be able to glean from it...

    Thanks in advance,
    glenn . . .

    Oops - forgot screenshots...(and of course, MULTIPLE CRISES going-on here...) . . .

WELL I CAN NOT "FIND" THE SCREENSHOTS TO UPLOAD!!!??????!!!

And this "7" is supposedly "BETTER" than Vista???

That has not been my experience this past month of trying to "FIGURE-OUT" 7 ... Will post the screenshot of the photos of my ACTUAL RAM when I can FIND the damned things...JEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!

In the meantime, I'll write what I see on the stick:

    HYNIX (Korean) 2GB 1Rx8 PC-10600S - 9-10-B1

I don't mean to bump this, but I have so many (several other) questions pertaining to the situation:

    1. Is "1.5V" better (in any way) than "1.35V"?

    2. Is it better to fill both slots (2GB in each) rather than 4 GB in one slot?

    3. Given the differences in three separate sources, I think going with the 2GB-stick that is actually already in the machine is the best bet, however, the stick doesn't seem to give good, full, thorough info/data?

I always thought "Brand" (matching the brands) was one of the most important factors, but I have been informed here (in another thread), that "Speed, voltages and frequencies" are the best bets to look for a match, but I don't see any of that on the stick I have here...?

    Hi,
The module that you need is ....
2gb - DDR3 (PC3-10700) with a speed of no less than 667MHz and the voltage is rated at 1.5volts and memory timings of 7-7-7-20.
This is the perfect match to what is already installed, depending on what .bit version of OS you are using (32 or 64) if it is 32bit then the most Ram it will see and use is around 3 to 3.5 Gb so putting more than 4Gb Ram in would be a waste of money, even though your system staes it can hold/take upto 8Gb of Ram.

Wow, thank you for this WEALTH of info, I sure wish I knew how you can tell all of this??!??

The good news (I reckon?) is that I "DO" have a 64-bit! BUT, I thought I could ONLY max-up to 4 GB of RAM??

PS - OH! No one seems to make PC3-10"700". All I have found is either 10600 or 10800...?

You have no idea how appreciative I am that you've hung-in here with me, that said, I don't know what's going on on my end now, as the screenshot of what is actually is inside my machine here (attached), shows "something", denoted as:

    PC3-10600"S"
    . . .

Is THAT what I should be looking for?? There are "no" clear indications (to a novice such as myself) of what the frequencies, voltages, and timings actually are, in fact...?

    Hey don't worry ;),

If your machine is running with that ram installed then you can use the exact same type that is installed, it is is easier to find also!!! don't worry about timings and such ;) your machine will run at the lowest that is installed, and as for voltage as long as it does not exceed 1.5v everything will run ok, but you will find that most Laptop Ram runs at 1.5v.

Ok well, thanks, but, and I'm sure it just me, this "seems" to go against what I first understood that you had originally said, about ''frequencies, timings and voltages" matching-up (as much as absolutely possible) . . . ?

Though Crucial has a Live web-salesperso, I mean - "EXPERT", or I think I could call them - but unfortunately money is a very real issue for me (being on disability pay ... very low disability pay), and I think I can find it significantly lower in price (and I think Crucial or someone who doesn't "know" me, is going to tend to sell what they have in stock, and/or what management is pushing them to sell/their biggest money-makers....

All I can really tell from the pictures I took is: it's 2GB of PC3-10600S...that's about it...no clue what all the other numbers mean...?

    Re: RAM "VOLTAGE" Question, Please

I realize that I "MUST" necessarily be getting very near to the end of my seemingly INCESSANT questions RE: "R.A.M.", however, I believe this will be (have to be!?!) the "FINAL" of them . . .

Is there ANY benefit (any, at all ... whatsoever) to having (as long as it is supported) to having/running RAM voltage of "1.35V", (noticed in the 2nd purchase-option on the list, circled in black, highlighted in the black & pale/faint yellow box), vs./opposed to "1.5V", also seen in the same list, please?

Thanking you very much in advance,
    glenn . . .
