I just loaded W2k on a noname laptop and made the unforgivable sin of forgetting to look to see what type video and what type board I was dealing with. Is there any way to find this out, now that I have W2K install and working, just have 16 Colors?

What service pack are you running? Also, install the latest directx. I've noticed with 2k that if you don't do both of these, display can be kinda wierd.....

I am running Service pack 2. I know the problem is that I don't have the drivers for the onboard video, but I have no way of knowing what the video is. Is there some shareware or something that I can install that will identify what the hardware is?

Well, service pack 4 is the "latest and greatest", but I'm sure you already knew that.....

Also everest might be able to help you find what video you have. Or point you in the right direction........like motherboard chipset....

The everest told me what type intergrated video the board had. I will install sp4 and load the drivers for the video it found and I should be in business. Thanks for the help
