Notepad++ Prob Or... How Do I Start An Npp Account?

Got a couple of problems with Notepad++, which if someone knows the answer, excellent - if not, hopefully someone can point me in the direction of setting up an account at an NPP-specific site.

My browser is being funny, or my internet connection or something, and with the-powers-that-be pretty much trying to put our state into lock-down (and can you blame them??!!), now isn't a good time to head out for help sorting out the issue (which could just be the issues of limited funds and an old computer), and the only log-in options I can see at the NPP forum ( https://community.notepad-plus-plus.org ) are Twitter, Facebook, Google and ??? (forgot) and I have none of those, nor any interest in doing - surely there's a plain 'become a member of just here' option? So if someone knows that info and can point me to a specific link, that would help.

Notepad++ has frozen and I'm going to have to force it to quit and restart, but I don't want to lose some data, if possible.

What I'm trying to find information on and having extremely limited success with, is where NPP Portable version stores temporary data, and I'm NOT talking about the backups of documents I'm working on (scads of info on that - the many results are probably burying the info I need). I know where backup docs are kept and they're all safely under control. What I need is the macros I've recorded but not saved yet, and the 'Find' history. (Would be nice to figure out where it puts Undo history but that's not important.)

'Find' history would be very useful, because I was partway through a project that had multiple search terms as I went along and I can't remember all of them, but the macros would be REALLY useful, because it took me ate least five goes to get one of them done properly and it's quite a complicated one, and I forgot a few steps and had to make another macro to finish the job, and was going to join the code together.

Thanks folks, and hope you're all doing okay. Worrying times...

No, the only way is via the options you've found i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Github and Google
    In memory
The saved Find history is in the config.xml file that is in the directory that the portable version resides. This information is saved on routine closing of the program - not force closing.
If notepad++ is frozen, then it's likely that all info is lost bar the routine auto backup of documents.

That's a distinct shame. At least I remembered what the search term was that I needed - I knew those would be gone when I restarted, was just hoping they were written elsewhere - and the two most important macros I had completely documented, including all the regular expressions needed, so pain though it will be, I can remake them into the single they need to be, and whatever the other macro was, it was only minor - useful but not majorly exciting, and that's about all I can remember of it.

Just for the record, the config.xml _can_ end up elsewhere, if you have changed settings to back that set of files up elsewhere. I got sick of drilling down umpteen folders to reach shortcuts.xml so I changed the settings to save them in a top-level folder. It was also part of the reason I was confused, though - I'd stupidly forgotten shortcuts.xml wasn't the only file backed up there, and couldn't find any files in the NPP portable folder that were recent enough to have been changed the last time I was using NPP.

I used to run multiple instances, when I wanted to do something special, and then close the instance I had created a macro in and force the write, but then I found out multiple instances was the cause of my files not backing up - you can have multiple instances or backing up of your documents but not both, though both may be possible in a future version; it has been mentioned I've seen.

Shame it froze when it did - I was just a few minutes away from finalising a couple of things and doing a restart. Oh, well... if I _will_ insist on NPP performing functions it's capable of, what can I expect? ;-D (VERY tongue in cheek! Usually, it's pretty good, but this occasion, trying to maximise the search results box into its own window led to the freeze.)

    Thanks for your help. :)
