Nothing found, but...

All four computers currently on our network have been showing signs of trouble for several weeks now. The main points are: slow bootup; very slow fire-up of both Firefox and IE7 browsers; repeatedly interrupted internet sessions; and intermittently very slow and/or very broken downloads and uploads.

Nothing much has shown up on any malware scan although we've tried quite a number (Spybot, AVGAS, AAW, etc). As far as the internet problems are concerned, others on the same exchange and/or with the same ISP say everything's normal with them.

Attached are logs as requested in the new MG procedure, produced after following the requested procedures. Really hope you can provide some enlightenment, as we're getting really frustrated!

    Thanks,

    Bob

I'm not seeing any malware ...but please do this:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. This program does not require an installation. The executable actually runs the program.

NOTE: This program is for Windows XP and Windows 2000 only. ATF Cleaner will remove all files from the items that are checked so if you have some cookies you'd like to save. Please move them to a different directory first.

    * Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    * Under Main choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.

    If you use Firefox browser

    * Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.
o NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

    If you use Opera browser

    * Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.
o NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main ATF Cleaner menu to close the program.

To add to what TimW has stated,

Sorry but your problems with this PC are not malware related. It is more than likely due to the choice of software that you have installed and running all the time.

I suggest that you uninstall SUPERAntispyware now to avoid having it add to your problems.

I see a bunch of things related to Pest Patrol running but I did not see it listed in you uninstall programs list. Is Pest Patrol actual appearing in Add/Remove programs or was it installed as part of some other application. If you are going to have Pest Patrol running, I suggest that you uninstall Windows Defender. Also Ad-Aware 2007 is a waste of system resources so consider removing it too.

Thanks for the advice, both. As for Chaslang's point, I bought Pest Patrol YEARS ago and for some reason keep it installed. I'll do as you advise, and thanks again.

    Regards,

    Bob

If it is not a current version with up to date updates (that is do you pay to keep it updated), then it would be serioulsy out of touch with the current state of malware.
