I dont know what the heck is going on, but nothing in normal mode works. I cant run anything. ctrl-alt-delete brings up nothing. I cant turn off the computer unless I hit the power button. I can't play mine sweeper, I can't open the internet. Any time I try to do something I get a little hour glass like it is going to do something, but nothing happens. My friend says it a virus and my only choice is to reformat. I have run all that I can run in safe mode as far as spybot, adaware, cc, the online scanners, none of them are picking up anything.

    Help! please.

EDIT: I shouldn't say nothing is working, because apparently it is just taking 30 mins for anything to open

ok, when I start my computer, I have like 7 of these svchost.exe processes starting up. Some are SYSTEM, some are Network Service, and some are Local Service. One of them causes the computer to run at 100% cpu usage. This particular one is of the SYSTEM variety. This makes everything take like a half hour to come up, including the task manager. Once I end this process everything goes back to normal. This process does not seem to try and restart itself. I was told this is some kind of virus or malware, but none of the scans (and I have done many of them) are picking up nothing.

    suggestions?

You need to try and run as much of the below as is possible and you need to get as many logs as possible to us so we can see what is going on. There are several infections that can cause problems like this. Note that having multiple svchost.exe processes running is normal. How much CPU time they use is variable but they should not use ALL of it.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:

      • [*]runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
        [*]newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

So you are saying you no longer have a problem???

In the future please remain in one thread for a problem to avoid confusion like this.
