now, for the sad part...

Usually I get the PC-DVD when winter says it's time slow down a bit. But, I thought I'd give steam a try.

Running W7U (64-bit), and had a 32 bit error on initial execution of Steam. During the update, it kept kicking out a win32 error and after it actually installed, it invited itself to "lock in" Vista compatibility mode. So, no menu text, white screen where I think the startup demo should be, and theatrics were black screens. I even restarted Windows, just for :crap & :-D.

Just for fun :mad, did an R&I on steam, "compatitbilty mode" is now unlocked/selectable, and waiting *an hour* for the game install to complete, even though I never unistalled the game.

Yeah, this is how I wanted to spend my morning off from work. Oh yeah, I'm on :cloud9.

No word from support on their end, SO, anyone seen an issue like this?

 

OK, I get the dunce hat today.

Fiddled with AI Catalyst settings, and graphics are rendered.

However, this doesn't change the oddity on install...

 

First thing to try when Steam freaks out and acts up:

Make sure you know your login credentials, and shut down the client. Go to your Steam directory (in Windows 7 it defaults to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam) and delete the file ClientRegistry.blob Restart the client, and log in when prompted.

If no luck, next step it to find out if this happens with every single steam game, or just this one. If every one, completely uninstall and reinstall the client. If only one, which one?
