a recent AV scan quarantined a trojan.vundo.b but i dont necessarily want it quarantined, i would rather have it destroyed. since norton didnt give me that option i searched google which brought me to a thread here at major geeks.

the link is here - http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=159294 i followed the helpers instructions exactly. alas, while it worked for the thread starter, it did not work for me.

please tell me what i should do, i am in the exact same boat as the last guy.

PS, i wouldnt be too worried about it at the moment, but when following the R&RMF malware removal guide it says to remove any quarantined items.

We cannot help you with a Norton bug. You will have to contact them. Your other alternative is to uninstall it and delete all remaining files and folders which will remove everything including the Quarantine.

i don't really think its a bug. it simply doesnt give the option for quarantine removal. is there any way your norton specialist Michael York can address this issue?

Yes and that is a bug. ;)

You need to discuss it with Symantec. He jumps into threads here and there when he sees the terms Norton and Symantec being used. If you want your problem resolved quickly. Speak to Symantec or try doing what I already stated.

    hahaha good point

ok i wont wait for mr york, but i dont want to uninstall at the moment unless its necessary. as i said the main reason i want to get rid of it asap is to follow the malware removal guide to a t.

is it a MUST to remove those items before moving onto the next step? i see the reason states
if that is the only reason, i should be able to skip because that single virus is the only thing in there.

if i absolutely need to remove it, would it be safe to restore it, and then just manually delete it?

No! But as I pointed out in your other thread. Your Symantec application appears to be broken anyway.

You should try to stay in one thread for current issues. I suggest using the other thread.
