My friends Laptop got FRIED :cry ; the old 120Gb drive is still functional and accessible. She has allot of critical data on it.

I have Setup the Newer Replacement laptop with it's original 60Gb HD and the old laptop that has a 120 GB drive.

I have the OS (WinXP) installed on the newer system's 60Gb drive, as a 50GB SYSTEM partition and a 7 Gb BACKUP partition, and have the OS installed in the SYSTEM boot partition.
I have used Acronis to create an image of this configuration and it's backed up on the 7Gb Backup partition on the 60Gb drive.

Using a USB adapter; I have the Old 120GB SATA drive plugged in and it is Mostly full with data that my friend needs.

My question to you, dear reader, is do you have a Suggested Software tool, as well as a suggested configuration that I could implement to achieve this following configuration:

120Gb drive has Primary HD, All needed Data saved; New Image Implemented as Boot Drive.

The data from her Profile is protected by XP's Data Security 'feature' and I am not able to access all the data on the 120 Gb drive that needs to be restored. Due to Folder Access permissions. :confused

about 20Gb of data that is in the OLD (120Gb) Sata drive needs to be kept safe, though made available in this new configuration.
This 120Gb drive has a 12Gb partition (at the END of the hard drive) that I have erased and what I was considering on doing is Restoring my new configuration on this Drive. Then copying ALL the Data that is needed and then erasing all the unneeded Data.

I intend on replacing the 60Gb SATA drive with the 120Gb SATA drive; maintaining the data integrity and keeping the valuable data safe that is on the 120 Gb drive. I already know that the HD swap will work, already tested it.

Honestly, I haven't worked on a computer for about a year and my skills have gotten a bit rusty.
I've been racking my brain on this, and so I decided to post this question to my fellow Geeks out there that could share their wisdom. Thanks SO Much!

I appreciate your feedback and thank you SO Much in Advance! ;)
