Ntldr is missing

hey guys im building a new comp for a mate so all parts are new, when i try to boot to set up windows for the first time is says ntldr is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart. ive looked around and sofar havnt found any thing about this happening with a new hd.
parts r

motherb -- gigabyte ga-8vm800pmd-775-rh
cpu -- Celeron 3.0 GHz
mem -- 512MB ddr2 533mhz
hd -- seagate 250gb sata
dvd -- liteon dvd burner

im stuck and my mate wants his new comp.
any help would be much appreciated.

 

oh forgot to say os is windows xp home sp2

 

Is that Seagate drive new?

yep every thing in it is brand spanking new

Your drive might not be formated for Windows yet. If you got a CD with the HD, toss it in and try that.

ya i have formated it, i downloaded the seagate diskwizard installation tool, but when i when to format it said that it cant format to 250gb and has to format to 137gb, something about larger than 137gb drives needs custom drivers that can be installed after windows is installed.

1 think i dont under stand is why it will boot off the disk wizard cd but not the windows xp cd???
