Last night I tried to get on my computer. And it wouldn't turn on and keep saying "NTLDR is missing press any key to restart." I did but the message keep popping up so I couldn't do anything with the computer. The time before I got on the computer I used the Major Geeks way of protecting your computer (the RUN & READ ME FIRST! thing) and I thought that might of deleted my NTLDR thing because I had to deactivate my UAC and unhide all program files so maybe on the clean up on off the programs deleted it. But i got on this morning and when i got the same thing only I unlugged my RCA audio recorder from my computer usb drive and it started up fine after showing the screen that the "NTLDR is missing" message pops but not the actual text so problem fixed right? I hope. I am asking if I should download a NTLDR file as a precaution because i want to fix the problem if there still is one. But I read that a USB cord could mess up the boor options on a computer so I didnt know if the problem is the USB cord (then it would be fixed) or i deleted my NTLDR file (in which case ill need a new one). Thank you very much for helping me ahead of time.

    1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
    2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
    3. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
    4. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
    5. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
    6. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter, which in this case is "e." This letter may be different on your computer.

    copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
    copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

    7. Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

You never finished your malware thread
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=220921

If this is the same computer
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=221097
    and all you have
is a firewall than chances are good that you have numerous malware on your computer. You also never answered Rikky about what version of windows you are running. If you tried removing something and picked the wrong thing to remove, that could have caused your problem.

You need to finish the malware thread before you deal with any other problems.

Go here http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=220921 first and point to this thread so the malware fighters can see all the problems. Also you need to post what version (with service packs) of windows you are running. Also post what sort of disks or images you have to use.

We can not know if you removed all the malware as you never attached the requested logs.
