Hi there, new to the forum lots of great information. I have a NTOSKRNL-HOOK trojan that mcafee recognizes but does not permanently delete. While I can't tell much of what it is doing to my system one thing that is out of the ordinary is that audio will play sporadically from what I think is a hidden internet explorer page or something. Also the google toolbar does not work either. Not sure whether that could be linked.

Anyway I followed the Vista Cleaning Procedure to summarize; none of the programs worked. I had to rename all the files to install them but when I clicked on them I got a 'superantispyware has stopped working' error for example. I tried them all in order one by one. I managed to get gmer to work (again after renaming it) and this was the end result. Could anyone analyze it for me please.

EDIT: I managed to get MGTools to work too. Here is the zip. attachment

EDIT 2: No search engines seem to be working...

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Now see if you can run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and RootRepeal

Now run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\avenger.txt
    • the logs from SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and RootRepeal if any of them ran
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
