When I start up my computer my NumLock is off and I want it on I did search on the forum for this problem and read a post from back in November regarding this topic and I did go and check in my registry for the following:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Keyboard]InitialKeyboardIndicators = "0"
    "0" - All Keys off
    "1" - Caps Lock on
    "2" - Num Lock on
    "4" - Scroll Lock on
My string is a 2 so now what do I need to do to get it so my NumLock is on at startup?
    Thanks sooo much...

Enter your Bios and check for something like Bootup Num Lock and change to on > save and exit bios

How do I enter my Bios ??
Sorry I am computer literate but I have never ever messed with my Bios before because I know that is something to NEVER be messed with unless you know what you are doing as it can royally mess up a computer if you click on the wrong thing..

when you boot your PC up, the first screens you see are normally black and move quickly onto the windows screens, on the black screens you should see something like "to enter Bios hit XXX" * where XXX could be the either Del, F1, F2, F12 or ESC keys

When the PC is booting on the first screens tap whichever key it tells you to a few times and a Bios page should showup, depending on the type of Bios the Num Lock Function could be in a few places but a good bet is Advanced Bios Features.

One thing to note is that at the bottom of the bios screen will be the instructions for Saving & Exiting and Quiting the bios.

Ok I got into the Bios and the NumLock was set to be on at startup..
    Here is whats happening..
My computer starts up and goes to the Windows XP screen that has the blue scrolling bar and my numlock light will be on but after a few seconds of being at that screen it goes off and then my computer finishes with that screen and goes to my sign in page and the numlock light is still off and in order to type my password I have to press the numlock key. Yes I could use the numbers above my letters but it is faster to use the number keys.
So if in my registry and bios the numlock is set to be on at startup why isn't it on??
I did have to dump my computer recently to solve a problem with Yahoo Messenger being goofed up. All my updates are done so I am at a loss as to why this is happening like this..
One thing you should know is that this problem has always been there and after a period of time the numlock light will be on at startup like it should be.
    So now what??
    Thanks..

Thank you thank you thank you...
upon clicking on something in that link it took me to a Microsoft Article and from there I found another Users key string which was for the default. The default was set at 0 I changed it to a 2 and now my lite is back on at start up.
    Thanks so much.. :):):):)
