Ok this is my first post and I'm trying my best to follow all rules (yes i read stickies lol)

    My system:
    (ok i built this myself)
    evga 780i mobo
    evga 8800 ultra video card
Windows XP pro SP3 32bit OS
    Xeon e3110 3.0 GHz processor

To start let me say that I have had this computer for over a year and haven't had these driver issues until the past few months. I had this problem before with Call of Duty 4 and through days of painstaking research and trying different old drivers (and yes using crap cleaner and driver sweepers between instals) i thought it was fixed ...

I also found a "infinite loop fix" that apparently doesn't work...

Then it started happening again and I tried what worked for me last time to no avail. I am wonderinf if my video card is on the fritz. I have installed CPUID and monitored my temperatures, voltages, etc. and everything appears to be normal.

If worse comes to worse and I do have to buy a new video card I want to know for sure that's the real problem, and I'm not wasting 200 bucks on a new one only to have the same problem.

I heard you can take your PC into best buy for a "free" analysis so I might try that. I simply want to know if this is a fixable driver failure or if my video card is going out?

Ok the actual problem is that whenever I try to play any game that uses 3D it will launch and then when it starts to load the actual game (not the initial trailor video's) that's when i get green haze lines accross the entire screen and if i wait long enough i will get the blue screen of death with the nv4_disp infinite loop blah blah blah ....

If you need to know any more info. just let me know and I appreciate any help majorgeeks can offer THANK YOU.

(i really think this is just a major driver issue not the video card but either way i just want to know...)

Oh and one last thing: I am willing to re-install xp or anything no matter the inconvenience to me i just want to fix this stupid plague.

yep green lines and glichs like that mean the card is 1. overheating [ make sure the fans are working and clean ALL the dust out ] or 2. just reaching the end of its life span

clean the gpu heat sink make sure the fan is spinning if it still does it .. well time to replace the card

the only thing that gets me is that as long as I stay clear of applications that use 3D, it's fine. If I just puts around in windows (normal word documents, internet, etc. there are no problems)

oh and one last thing i forgot 2 mention... i have used "EVGA precision" for the last few months to "underclock" the card by 25% to save on power but I guess it doesn't matter it sounds cooked

which makes sense i guess because a friend had it paired with another running SLI and he was crazy i think he OC'd them 2 much. anyways i have had precision and all other video card based apps off to try 2 fix this but as long as you think that a new card will fix it i will just get a GTX 260 or something ...

THANKS MAN MUCH APPRECIATED INPUT =)

Ok i talked to the geek squad and they want 70 bux to do a full analysis so that's out cuz for twice that i have myself a brand new card =)

Here's what's happening i think it's overheating really bad. I used "evga precision," "furmark," and "cpuid" to do some testing. basically at factory settings my video card will crash the furmark benchmark test. Even if i manually drag the fan to 100% it still cant handle it...

BUT, if i drag the sliders all the way to the minimum (which is a 25% downclock) and put the fan to 100% it will remain stable.

Also i took all the ram out and tested 1 at a time just to make sure that was it. ... ram turns out good =)

So i will try to clean the heatsink and do another round of testing but do you have any different input based on that ^^^

(after testing i will post one more time after which would you please reccomend if a new card would fix my stupid problem?) truely i been wanting a new card for a long time lol and i really want to SLI lol but idk?
