Nvidia GST 250 Driver Problems

Hello,
Today I installed a Nvidia GTS250 Graphics card in my computer and after I turned my computer on it automatically detected the driver and installed it (260 series of drivers). It prompted me to restart and I did. Now my computer will go as far as the desktop background and then the fan gets really loud and windows explorer never loads. From this point I have to force shut down via the power switch.

There is, I believe, a 10 minute cutoff for post editing.

First things I'd try would be to uninstall the nVidia drivers, force Windows to load its native drivers, see if the symptoms change. If so, then d/l and install the nVidia drivers in case there have been any hidden and/or unannounced revisions.

According to Tech Report, "Nvidia rates the GTS 250's max board power at 150W, right at the limits of the PCI Express spec for this power plug configuration." Don't know if that has any bearing in your case.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I made a mistake when I bought this card because I only have a 300W PSU. I am upgrading to a 500W PSU and hopefully I will be able to run the card no problem after that. Thanks for the help.
