my friend says NVidia is a good graphics card, could someone explain why? he said that it had a GPU (i think it is a graphic processing unit?) and i was wondering about the cost, reviews, and other aspects like that.

Nvidia is a company, not a card. Depends on what video card you want to know about. As for GPUs, all video cards have GPUs these days.

The 2 good video card manufacturers are ATI and Nvidia. If you bought a cheap computer it probably comes with integrated video and has to use your system memory and processor to handle video. Having a video card greatly increases your performance, especially in games, prices vary, a budget video card can be as little as $50 and a high end card can be as much as $600-$800. What do you use your computer for? If you play games I reccomend a 7600gt or 8600gts. If you just want a cheap card for basic stuff get a 7300gs. to buy and compare costs try Newegg, and to compare performance check out the interactive chart Here.
