I thought the conspiracy theory that he was born elsewhere was probably one of the most ludicrous his opponents came up with (seriously????...you don't think that there was a huge background check done on that??rolleyes), but the idea that he didn't release it a long time ago was pretty stupid as well.

Amen (or so to speak) to that.

I disagree as he didn't have to release it. There are those that will die before they belive anything, no matter the proof or in their eyes it will always be a conspiracy, If not this, then they'd be onto something else as ludicrous.:confused

LOL, you catch Trump basking in his own glory today?roflmao As soon as Apprentice ends he'll say he's not interested in running, pulled the same crap for the last 25 years!:pukerolleyes Conning everybody, esp. the media, what a Blago fest of egotism!

Trump is a media whore. He may run for president, but he'll never be taken seriously. Any party who endorsed him would become a laughing stock.

I think Obama had to end this crap once and for all, so I disagree that he didn't have to do it. I don't think he wanted to have it coming back up in the next election even if there will still be the wackos who still talk about it. I think he actually chose Trump to respond to because he'll never be a legitimate challenge.

Just saw an interview on CNN in which John King was trying to interview Trump. However, John King hardly had a chance to put his questions forward because Trump wouldn't let him and cut him off on virtually all questions without listening. *Excuse me* Future president? No diplomacy or manners, unbridled aggression, showing no respect for another person. He has a beef with China about their monetary protection policy which hurts the US. Yet I read somewhere that Trump has his clothing line manufactured in China? IMHO he's a like Laura said a media whore and a sleazy one at that. Now he's attacking President Obama's grades in his younger years, ignoring the fact that he graduated with cum laude from Harvard U.

I'm not sure if Obama did the right thing by having released his BC. If some would accept the truth, 25% never will and will be looking for other reasons to de-legitimatize a democratically elected president.

If this post is too hot to be read in this thread, then just delete and that would be fine with me.

I haven't read or watched any news yet today, so this was the first I heard about this.

Thank G-D! It's about time to finally put an end to this c##p.
At least now there can't be any legitimate challenges to the authenticity of his citizenship.

One thing that really gets me is that going back to the beginning of this junk in early 2008, or before,
during that entire time while people were throwing stones at Obama, no one made a peep about the Republican candidates citizenship.

John McCain was not born in the USA.
John McCain was born in Panama.

Some polls have shown that about 10% of those who do not believe that Obama is actually a US citizen,
do not know that Hawaii is a state.
When asked about that, they said "No".

And then they want to shout obscenities and wave ugly banners in the streets.

Hope this wasn't too ugly. :-o
I don't want to get booted out. rolleyes

    P.S.
    I love this:

Hi! It has nothing to do about a birth certificate or grades. It's all about raciest.
The rich white boys can't stand the fact that a black man was elected President of the United States. Nothing he does will be right and he will have to deal with this kind a crap all the time he is our President.
It's a sad time in our history and shows our true colors to the rest of the world. The same people that are causing this carry their Bibles around and preach that we all came from Adam and Eve , and all gay people should be stoned. I know what I'm talking about; I live in Oklahoma, the reddest state in the country. The rich white boys won't be happy until some thing bad happens to Obama.
Trump is the sorriest SOB that ever walked on this earth!!

It's not about racism rolleyes It's about goofy conspiracy theorists . . . I lump the "birthers" right in there with those idiot "911 Truthers" who still contend that the attacks were an inside job. Give me a break.

There are plenty of reasons besides racism to find fault with the Obama administration . . . charges of racism come oft and easy from some people's lips. Not to say racism doesn't exist - but everyone who disagrees with the president aren't automatically racist.

Oh - and the media DID question McCain's birth. The media vetted McCain 100% - and McCain produced his birth certificate right away. Clever idea. Not a hard thing to prove, as his father was an active duty naval officer, after all . . . stationed in Panama ;)

Obama refused to release it for so long because it suited his purposes, plain and simple. Just a few nut jobs believe he wasn't born in the US, but it was handy to be able to accuse any of his political adversaries of being a "birther".

Trump is a media-whore, plain and simple. I don't give him much more credit then the other wacko conspiracy nuts.

oneeyejack, you forget that this "racist" country elected Obama.

mjnc, the people I've seen yelling obscenities and waving ugly banners of late aren't the anti-Obama crowd, are they . . .

Yes we did and it was the happiest day of my political life. As I stated in my previous reply; don't tell me there isn't racism, I live in one of the biggest racist states in the country (Oklahoma). It's fine to disagree with our president. I'm not real happy with him some times.
What can he do when he has to work with a bunch of people that say their no.1 goal is to see that he is a one time president. A news media that spends 7/24 covering people like Trump, Balkman, and Palin spewing lies and hatred. There is one reason that there is this much hatred and it's because the people of the United States elected a black man to lead us.
Disagree with our president all you want to; but stop the lies. Yes there will always be kooks that think 911 was a conspiracy and more stupid crap like that. I just don't want to hear that kind a crap 7/24 like we hear it now.I'm a veteran and I was taught to respect the president. We will always disagree on some things; but these damn lies are tearing our country apart and some thing bad is going to happen if we don't stop it. Disagree, but stop the lies!! There has been plenty of proof that Obama was born in the USA. Do you realty belief Mc Cain and Clinton weren't smart enough to find out the truth. You believe these lies because Obama is half black. Sit back and see what the next lie will be. I guarantee there's one coming.:(

President Obama DID supply his birth certificate in 2008!!!

That short form is legal, official and is released by the State of Hawaii to all Hawaiian people who request it. It is valid as the real thing and one can get a passport, drivers license etc. with it.

The LONG form BCs are not given out by Hawaii as they are no longer valid as proof of citizenship and therefore are locked in their vaults.

That LONG form BC is the one that Obama released now and it had to be a special request.

This all is really disgusting and if one would believe the birthers then the state of Hawaii would have been tampering with documents and additionally the short form BC would not be sufficient proof of birth for ALL Hawaiians = Americans. ;) Don't know how to explain it properly and hopefully you'll get my drift.

But the legal SHORT BC was NOT enough proof for the birthers and they kept on saying that he was born in Kenya. Their investigators should have gone to Kenya to get his BC there. ;)

Therefore to stop this circus and the paralyzing effect it was/is having on the government, Obama released the LONG form BC although that document is no longer valid as an official birth certificate.

    Like read this link. http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsme..._certificate_should_say_negro_not_african.php

I believe that some are really racist and hide under the birthers'/Tea Party's umbrella.

Just google if you want to see both the Long Form BC and the Short Form BC since they're all over the internet.

    Hi Spad.

Look, I didn't mean to suggest that McCain wasn't a legitimate candidate.
I was just referring to that portion of the general public that made a big deal about Obama's birth place,
but seemed to ignore that McCain wasn't born in the US.

Don't know what you're referring to as I haven't seen any of that just recently and I don't seek out that kind of stuff.
Unfortunately, it's not too unusual for something like that to be going on somewhere around the globe.

    @OMA and all
There are plenty of documents on the Web affirming Obama's Hawaiian birth.

Here are a few links about such:

    Born in the USA

Claim: A Certification of Live Birth document provided by the Obama campaign is a forgery

    Native Son

Claim: Barack Obama is a "radical Muslim" who will not recite the Pledge of Allegiance

The Obama birth Chronicles, chapter CCXCVIII

There is some questions raised since his father was a Kenyan and he was raised in Indonesian schools. Senator McCain's Father was a highly decorated Admiral in the US Navy.

Wow, so If I don't like bo's policies and such, am I a racist? I am certainly doing what little I can to ensure he is a one term president. Not because of his race, but because of his ideology and the direction he is leading our country. What specific network are you talking about, and what are the lies and hatred?

And I agree, there is a lot of racism. On both sides. There are several 'interesting' black preachers that bo has attended their church, and of course the domestic terrorist bo associated with.

Back to the topic of this thread, I think he released the long form because he was starting to lose favor in the polls. I always thought he did not release it because it gave the 'crazies' something to focus on, so perhaps they would not be looking at the bigger issues.

OneeyeJack, an interesting person considering running for president is Herman Cain. Do you think I like him because of his race, or his ideas? http://www.hermancain.com/

And to the mods, I hope I did not get outside the realm of civility. If I did, please feel free to edit, delete, or whatever you feel is right. ;)

Re: Obama releases oneeyejack, you forget that this "racist" couhis Birth Certificate

I didn't. In fact, I said there IS racism. It's just a simple fact that not liking Obama's political agenda is NOT automatically a racist act. That is an absurd charge and not worthy of a reasonable person. I didn't agree with tons of Bush's policies - not one person thought it was because of race :-D

I don't know what hatred and lie spewing you are talking about in this case - I do know a lot of what has been branded "hate speech" by the uber-left is anything but that. I do seem to recall some pretty rabid spewing going on during the last administration - far more ugly, vile, and vicious then anything I have seen lately . . . yet you act like such things are brand new and never happened before - it has just got to be about race. rolleyes At any rate there is always enough BS of one degree or another from both ends of the political spectrum to go around and alway has been.

As far as the news media goes, Obama has enjoyed one of the most cordial relationships with the majority of the main stream media since FDR - so cordial in fact a few of the leaders in the mainstream have said, in retrospect, that maybe they weren't as "even handed" during the election and the months after as they should have been. To claim that, by and large, the press has been unfair to Obama is unrealistic at best.

Do not presume to tell me, sir, what I do and do not believe. If by "these lies" you are referring to the birther nonsense, I certainly do not believe it. Never have, never said I did, and in fact in my post I said it was nonsense and I have always thought so. I'll say again - I lump them in with the other conspiracy theory nuts, period. I think it is interesting you also consider the "911 truthers" to be wacko, but the "birther" bozos just haveto be racists. I too am a veteran, and I too was raised to respect the office of president. I didn't like the rampant disrespect for the office when Bush was president, and I don't like it now when I see it. But political disagreement IS NOT disrespect.

mjnc, I didn't think you were stating McCain wasn't legit - I was responding to what you said about no one even raising the question. It was raised, but a cub reporter with a phone book and a fax machine could have verified McCain in an afternoon, since his father was an active duty naval officer. With Obama, like BoredOutOfMyMind said, there were questions raised since his father was a Kenyan and he was raised in Indonesian schools - not to mention his own grandmother at first claimed he was born in Kenya. All that was cleared up to my satisfaction before the election was even over - but conspiracy theories have been started from far, far less . . . and the fact Obama took so long to release the long form just added fuel to the fire.

I have not accused one person on this thread of being a racist, and that includes you sir. You have agreed that there is racism. There was plenty of proof that Obama was born in Hawaii before releasing this last birth certificate. If you think there aren't racist in the USA , just come to Oklahoma. This crap is all coming from Fox news and I'm sick of it. If you really think there isn't racism in the USA, I have a lot of bridges I need to sell. If you disagree with Obama's political agenda, that is all well and good, but don't single me out on this thread and use me to state your political views.
I would advise you to state your opinions and not try to draw other posters into your reply's and address them in your comments by there user name.

I beg your pardon . . . perhaps I mistook someone reposting a bit of one of my previous posts and then writing in reply "You believe these lies because Obama is half black " as being a statement directed at ME :confused

So, based on your complaint, your statement (used after posting part of one of my posts) that "If you really think there isn't racism in the USA, I have a lot of bridges I need to sell. If you disagree with Obama's political agenda, that is all well and good, but don't single me out on this thread and use me to state your political views." is not directed at ME either. Sooooo . . . who are you talking too?

I didn't single you out . . . I was responding to a post directed at me. I sorry, but I honestly don't understand your complaint, or really even what you are talking about.

The reason threads like this get locked is people want to get personal and quote others of saying things they disagree with. I would advise posters to state their own opinions and not drag other posters into their reply's. Just state your beliefs and don't quote some ones reply to make your point Those kind of reply's only start trouble. We can agree to disagree, on Major Geeks; but lets not get personal and drag another member's user name in your reply. That's not necessary!!!;);) I have not used a members name nor will I. I may have used part of a post, which was wrong and I apologize. Lets not get personal and get this thread locked>

I have only stated the fact that it exists. If you care to read more into my reply's than that, it's time for me to stop posting on this thread.

I never said you called anyone a racist on this site . . . I have no idea why you think I did.

I did not say racism doesn't exist . . . I have no idea why you think I did.

I do think I understand some of the confusion on my end - I think maybe you use the specific "you" instead of a general word like "people" or "someone" in your comments? If that is the case, I suggest such a technique can misconstrue your comment as being directed at the specific person who wrote the post you are responding to. ;)

No worries, it's all good. My only point in all of my posts is that while the birther stuff is wacko, it doesn't have to be racist . . . and that political dissent has always been around and also does not have to be rooted in racism.

My comments directed at you were in response to your comments and some assumptions of yours I read as being directed at and about me.

I believe that Obama released the long form of his birth certificate now because it was consuming all the media's time. They were following Trump around so close; if he would have stopped suddenly, they would have ran their nose up Trump's rear end. I hope this puts a end to all this bull, but I know it won't. There was plenty of proof before that he was born in Hawaii . The right wing doesn't want to let this go because they would lose the tea party. The Republicans know the truth and they could have stopped all of this. Obama gave them enough rope to hang them selves and guess what. They did!! I'm done. If your going to mess with Obama, you need to get up real early in the morning. He is our first black president, and there's a reason for that. He is one smart man!! You don't get to be the top of your class at Harvard by being dumb. That will be the next thing started. How did Obama get accepted by Harvard. Trump is already suggesting affirmative action was the reason for getting accepted. Call that what you want. I know how I see it, but this thread is not about that. I think I stayed on topic this time.rolleyesrolleyes

    @LauraR
I composed this response before I logged on and read your remarks.
I think, I hope, all of this is on topic.

My comment could be considered an exaggeration and so it's not entirely accurate.

I was referring to the disparity between the amount of time and attention given to
the issue of John McCain's US citizenship as opposed to the amount of time and attention
given to the issue of Barack Obama's US citizenship. I get most of my news info. from
various television stations and some from the internet and occasionally print media.
I personally don't recall seeing or hearing much at all about John McCain as regards
US citizenship, although I'm sure that the topic was coved.
Nevertheless, there was and has been a huge amount of attention given to the issue of
    Barack Obama's US citizenship.

I don't see how the two points given about the men's fathers has any bearing on the
validity of the two Senator's US citizenship.

The topic of this thread is:
    Obama Releases His Birth Certificate
and the comments in the first post refer to, in part, how the public release of that document
provides additional proof that Barack Obama is a citizen of the USA.

The issue is about place of birth.
As far as I know, if the Mother is a legal resident of the USA at the time of birth
and the birth occurs in the USA, then the child is considered to be a citizen of the USA.
There may be other mitigating circumstances related to the validity of citizenship
that I am not aware of.

Also, I don't see how Obama's attendance at two Indonesian schools for four years,
between the ages of six and ten, relates to his US citizenship. Further, I question
the often used terminology "raised in Indonesian schools". I don't mean to pick on
BoredOutOfMyMind or anyone else here on the forums on this point. This is something
that has been mentioned numerous times in various settings beyond these forums.
Just for comparison, I don't consider myself as having been raised in the
elementary school that I attended at that age, which for me was from grades one
through four. Although it had an effect on the development of my personality,
there are other factors that had a much greater influence.
