Okay, so after much hard work. I've contacted my ISP,my computer manufacturer and Linksys (my router, hub manufacturer) and I have not had any luck.

So what is happening, is my computer was pretty much knocked off of my network. It is not receiving an IP address from the router. Well, it is, but it begins with 169 and such, and from what I am told, that is invalid. So, I would really appreciate it if someone can help me out. I don't know what to do anymore, I've been troubleshooting for four days now.

Linksys also said something about a DHCP, because I tried ipconfig/renew and it cannot contact the DHCP or whatever.

    Please help :-(

Dhcp is used for cable internet. if you are using dsl you need to change the settings. Is your computer saying you are having a conflict with the ip or showing a connection? If you are having a conflict you must change your ip to a static address and make sure you are not using "tcip version 6".

Was this network working before or is this a new set up?
Here are a few things to try.
    1) Connect the PC directly to the modem, bypassing the router and see if you get an IP / Inet connection.
    Works?
    a) Yes - Plugged everything back the way it was and power everything down.
Power on modem & wait for all the usual lights, then router, then PC.
    b) No - Call cable provider.

    2) Second possible fix, go into TCP/IP properties and set an IP, usually 192.168.1.X (x=2 - 254) and bring up your browser and goto the router config usually 192.168.1.1
    Works?
    a) Yes - Check Linksys for firmware updates on the router (I had a bad Linksys with DHCP issues, which when patched caused Windows Media Player streaming to crash the router - solution new router)
    b) No --
    Well lets see what works....
