Ok so I recently got a new MBP, and have been setting it up. I was downloading office (from the website) and also decided to download flash at the same time. It went fine, installation went fine, and so did the downloading and installation of office. But then, in my downloads, I noticed something which wasn't there before:

    jed+ZXlW.exe.part

It says it's a document, and was modified 1 minute before the flash player installer. I know that I'm on a mac and that that's an exe, but still. Can anybody give me some help here? Something else I should mention is that both the "AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_11_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg" and "jed+ZXlW.exe.part" files are 959,824 bytes. I tried going on the 'more info' tab of it in the 'get info' pop-up to see the source, but it just says "--".

Any and all help is appreciated, thanks!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Sorry but we cannot help you with MacBook issues as this is a PC forum. Also if you are downloading illegal software with torrents ( which is what it looks like based on the "jed+ZXlW.exe.part" file name ) we cannot help you with that either.

Everything was fully legal. I downloaded office from the digital download link as my mb doesn't have a dvd reader and activated it with the code on the back on the back of my store-bought copy. I have nothing illegally obtained on my computer.

Also I didn't realize this was a PC forum, sorry. Maybe since this is a .exe you guys could still help me, or send me to a correct forum to post this in?

    Thanks again.

EDIT: Another thing I should add is that I put it into one of those online virus-scanners which scans with dozens of engines and it said the last time that file was scanned was like a couple of days ago that it was clean. I rescanned and none of them found anything this time either.

Glad to hear all is legal. ;) As stated, file names like "jed+ZXlW.exe.part" are normally seen when there are partial/incomplete downloads from torrent or other file downloading tools. If you have the files you need, you can just delete this.

Just FYI, for non-malware related questions on Software, you should post in the Software Forum. :)

Thank you. I also tested them, and "AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_11_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg" and "jed+ZXlW.exe.part" have the same md5 hashes. I can share them with you either here or over PM if you'd like.

You're welcome. I don't need the files for any reason.

I cannot answer that specific question because you have not run our cleaning procedure ( READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide ) which is designed for PCs running Windows.

All I can say is that I see no problems with the two file names you mentioned.
