    Hello all,

I have been having an issue on my system that does the following.

When in certain games, Flight Simulator X, Guild Wars 2, and Defiance. I am having random framerate drops to 0 for a few seconds and then back to full. Though I don't get it in Diablo 3, Everquest 2, Minecraft, Skyrim, and or Garrys Mod.

MSI Afterburner shows the GPU from from what it requires load wise to 0 for a few seconds at random intervals.

I have no heat issues, all temps run well and truly in the green and nothing is overclocked.

I have replaced the graphics card with another lower end and still the same thing happens. (main card GTX 560, also checked with HD6770)

    System is:

    AMD FX-8150 @ 3.6GHZ (Stock)
    Memory : 8 Gig Gskill
GFX Nvidia GTX 560 Gigabyte // Tested with also Raedon HD6770 with same issue.
    Mainboard: Asrock 990FX Extreme 3
    PSU3: Thermaltake TR2 800W
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

The only thing I can think of now is that the mainboard or PSU has some sort of fault, but its a bit weird it only happening in certain games.

Have run MSI Kombuster for hours and it wont do it, Ran Prime 95 and 3dmark, and other benchmark programs to the same result of everything passes perfectly.

Attached a system report from Aida64

Any ideas, voodoo magic or left field advice would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Well I might of fixed it. I found a post talking about turning off Turbo boost in Bios for the AMD processor, since doing it it currently has not done the usual. So I hope this may of fixed it.

Nvidia inspector watching my 560gtx shows it running perfectly, so fingers crossed. :)

I never use any of the cpu accelerators in bios when possible they can cause problems, I much prefer to manually set the frequency then lock it at it's stock or it's 'turbo' speed then check for stability using prime 95 or intel burn.

See if the slowdown corresponds to hard drive activity, area loads are one of the most misdiagnosed gaming problems.

I checked your motherboard for bios updates and there are quite a few that relate to the cpu support and turbo function so I would recommend a bios update-
