Odd Monitor Behavior

I have a dual monitor setup, and my left monitor (a Samsung 21") drives me nuts when I'm watching Netflix. When the content that is playing gets darker (like a scene in a dark room sort of thing), the whole monitor dims. It makes it extremely difficult to see what the hell is happening.

This only happens on the left monitor. The right monitor (a Dell 17"), keeps the same brightness or whatever no matter what is playing.

I cannot figure out what the heck is happening here, I don't have a clue what model the monitor is (or if that matters), and Googling really hasn't helped me.

It's merely an annoyance, but I was hoping someone here might have a clue.

People aren't going to spend time searching for "Samsung monitor 21 inches" because there are just too many possibilities.
You need to supply the exact model if you want help.

I don't know the model, nor do I know how to find out what the model is. This monitor was given to me years ago.

My hope was that there was some simple explanation I'd overlooked. Some possible setting somewhere that someone would know about, that I'd overlooked. Or that someone here had a similar problem and solved it.

I realized it was a long shot when I posted. If nothing comes of it, I won't be any worse off than before. I didn't expect anyone to spend hours researching my problem.

Start by swapping the two monitors - then we'll know if it's the monitor or the graphics.
In Windows 7 you open Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Right-click the monitor > Properties.

Did you look on the label?

I agree with Eldon. Swap monitors and see if the problem stays with the Samsung or moves to the Dell.

Yeah I looked for some kind of identifying information on the monitor when I first started having the problem but didn't see anything. I don't know if something was removed or what. It didn't used to do this, just randomly started one day.

I will try switching the monitors.
