I am running Windows XP, with Norton and Spysweeper. Last night, my internet was not connecting at all, but I did have something from Norton pop up. It wanted me to connect to a new network. It had a Gateway MAC id, but it seemed a little odd to me. The id was: 00 D1 59 DE AD 02. I haven't seen a request for this network address before. Also, the internet did return this morning. I called my ISP, and they said I was in an outage area. But if it was out, how could a new network want to connect? Could this be something not so friendly?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

If you lost physically connectivity to your network, ZoneAlarm may have treated like new network when it came back up. Or it could even have declared it a new network since your DNS server may have been gone and thus your IP my have default to a different network (like a 169.x.x.x number) during that time. This would also look like a new network.

Check the MAC addresses of the hardware in your network to see if there is a match.
