Odd Sound Issue

I have a desktop PC that occasionally will make a cracking noise from the speakers.

I have updated drivers, replaced sound card, replaced speakers and it still occurs.

Looking for ideas as to how to proceed further in troubleshooting this annoyance.

This is often caused by DPC Latency issues. What does DPC Latency Checker show?

 

I read the article and appreciate your response.

The issue seems to occur with either streaming audio or by playing tracks stored locally.

It also occurs if the computer is not playing any audio tracks. The crackling noise can best be described as static noise and can last upwards of 20 seconds.

The only devices near the computer are Comcast Arris Modem/Router unit. There is also a cordless phone on the desk but it is one of the satellite ones and the main unit is in the other room. I am completely baffled by this.

The DPC checker was all green when I ran it but the static did not occur.

 

I am at a loss here. I hope the problem is gone, but I can only suggest you let DPC Checker run and hopefully (???) the static will recur and you can see if it is a latency issue.
