Odd stop error

for some reason the past 2 days whenever i attempt to open a game on my comp, i get a blue screen with stop error 0x0000008e. i searched this on the microsoft website, and didnt find anything.

the only thing i can see on the error, is file atiduag.ll (i think, at work atm =P)
thought this may be due to my vid card, as this also only happens when i go to change my setting from 16-bit color to 32-bit, but i can still play movies on my comp, and the resolution is fine (could not do this before i got the card)

not sure what this is being caused by, and just happened all of a sudden on a restart. btw the vid card im running is ATI Radeon 9200 Rex.

sorry if this isnt under hardware, not sure at this point yet if it is a hardware issue

 

If you are running XP have you checked your event log to see if you can narrow it down?

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Log...check under System & Application to see if you have warning or errors. Often you can pin point the exact cause by right clicking and viewing the properties of the error/warning.

The file is actually atiduag.dll, and its part of your video drivers.

So--update/reinstall them
