Ode to a Christmas Past, or "How Mall Santa Saved Christmas"

I'd forgotten I jotted this down many years ago, after a particularly rough evening shopping (My own fault . . . 11th hour and all). I found it going through some old Christmas stuff.

Presented without edit or comment . . .

Oh the weather outside was frightful
But I needed to buy a cart-full
And since I had someplace to go
It had to snow, it had to snow, it had to snow

My buying didn't show signs of stopping
Though I'd done a ton of shopping
My energy was way down low
I wanted to go, I wanted to, I wanted to go

When I finally said goodnight
To that mad house that served as a store
I noticed blowing snow with fright
I couldn't see two feet past the door

My will was slowly dying
As my packages they went flying
I just couldn't seem to find my truck
Oh bad luck, oh bad luck, oh bad luck

Suddenly there was a light
It was the mall Santa perched on a plow!?
Having seen my desperate plight
He rushed to clear the snow oh so foul

Santa then plowed right up to my Chevy
and my heart was not so heavy
And as Santa vanished slowly from sight
He yelled, “Merry Christmas. It's one heck of a night!”

I wish every one at Major Geeks and their families a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and if you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope you find time to spend with your loved ones.

 

To be PC, I would like to wish all a happy winter solstice, or winter holiday.
