I have just started making stationary - OK boring for some, but I like it! Of course I have run into a problem - please can someone help?

I open my stationery and am told to click on the source tab at the bottom - but when I do it the page is blank. I can click on the page, select the code that I can't see and paste it into notepad, so it is there! But I would actually like to see the text and be able to alter it if need be.
I guess I have done something I shouldn't have and somewhere the text colour for that page had been set to white but where and how do I change it back?

This also happens when I edit my site in 0catch,com - or rather can't edit the site but my other site at Geocities is fine.

Looking forward to hearing from you :)

I've got no idea what your problem is except that it has something to do with Outlook Express????????

I think this is what she is refering to: Create a new email in Outlook express, go to view->check source edit, and then click on the "source" tab that appears at the bottom of the screen. This will show the html code for the email (or stationary, or whatever). Instead of the text being black, it is white on that tab for her.

Unfortunately, I can only clarify the problem, I have absolutely no idea what is causing it!

Hopefully this is what you need. This is the source code from one of my homemade stationeries:
The only other thing that may have happened is that you were using White when you wrote the code for the stationery.
When you copy it to Notepad....save it agin with the same name and you should be able to see it.
    Hope this Helps!

The source code should appear in black text, no matter what color you've applied to text for the normal view, i.e. Preview. So, this does not make sense. And, what do you mean by "am told to click on ..."? Are you getting some message telling you to click on the Source tab?

Do you still have the standard stationeries (Maize, Sunflower, etc.) in OE? Are they working OK?

Jenny, when you open the page where you compose a letter, go to the Format tab, then look down the list till you see a listing Rich Text (HTML), click it, you should get a dot beside it. Once you do that, you will get a toolbar at the top of the box where you type your letter. On that toolbar, go to the "A", this is your font color. You can change your font there to what ever color you like. Hope this helps.

That's all correct, but it does not explain why she can't see the code in Source view.

True, but I was going on the assumption that Jenny may have chosen a stationary with a white background and accidentally chose a white font. OE can be quirky for sure. As far as the main text, such as the text you see when you read your mail, I wasn't aware that it could be changed. I never seen anywhere that it could be changed and assumed that it was a default color setting, but I could be wrong. Good Luck Jenny!

Doesn't matter what colors she has selected for background and text. When she selects the Source tab at the bottom of the message composition panel, she should always see the source code in black text. She's not seeing that.

    A possibility:
If she has changed her Display and used Windows Standard>Appearance>Advanced and set the 'Message Box' text color to White (because she was using dark colors for everything else) this is what happens. The text does not show up in the Source window in OE and even in Notepad it doesn't show.
Changed to Black in Display Properties and all is well.
Just a theory....since we haven't heard from her.

    Hi Toni,

I am using Windows standard but I when I click on the Advanced tab I don't have a choice of changing the font color as it is greyed out.

Just a thought but a while back my son told me to make some changes to my system because it was running slow. He got me to tick and untick a load of boxes - things like shadow under icon - I have no idea where I did this but it wasn't on the display tab but.... I don't know if it was then that the text on the source code changed to white.

Sorry about the choice of words - when I say' told to click on the source tab' I should have said that the stationery tutorial that I was following said to do that.

I really appreciate this discussion by the way - Thanks everyone.

Oh and I forgot to answer - yes I do have Maize etc - I can't see anything on the source tab for those either!
I know it uised to be there though so it is something that I have stupidly changed.

Ok - I found out how to select the message box text - didn;t know you had to click on it - it was set on white so I changed it to black but.... the source page is still blank!

When I changed mine to White and then back to Black I had to Open and close OE a couple times for the change to take affect...you may also need to Restart your puter for the Display changes to take affect.
    Gettin' close...eh?
    :)

I had everything crossed that I could have this morning after I booted up but every source page is still blank. Yes I think it is the right direction - and the benefit is I am learning loads which even if it never gets fixed I can't complain about.
    Thanks again.
