Hi I just purchased a new computer and I am now using Outlook 2007 with Windows 7.

I am trying to export my email messages from my old system that uses OE6. I have moved my contacts with no problem. The problem I am having is my identities mailstore which is supposed to have my messages stored is empty but all my emails are accessible in OE6. I can not find the .PST or .DBX files anywhere on the system.

Within OE6 I have gone to tools-> options -> Maintenance -> and clicked on mail store, it give the location of where it is supposed to store them but when I go to my C drive I can get to my unique windows Identity # but the /windows/outlook is not within the folder.

If someone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated if you can share.

    Cheers

    Hi

If I remember rightly the path is your ID\Microsoft\Outlook Express as the folder, but what it could be is a hidden folder so in Tools > Folder Options > View make sure you unhide files and folder and aslo system files options, and then look.

also right click the ID folder to your OE path and see what its size is.

Dont know if this app HERE still works ok, used too

    Hi David,

Thanks for the quick reply. when i get to the unique identifier I look at the properties of the folder and it says 0 bytes. there are no sub folders within this folder. I have gone to the folder options and made sure that the folder was not hidden.

If you change the location of your Store Folder, you can get away from the long path string containing the long identity string. I'm not looking at OE now but, as I recall, go to tools-> options -> Maintenance ->, click the button titled Store Folder, and then somewhere you should see an option to change or move the .dbx files. Move them to a location with a some simple path, such as a sub-folder in My Documents or any folder you create on C:\. Then, open that folder via Explorer and you should see your .dbx files.
