office 2003

i have 8 doc files on a floppy if i try to load one all are highlighted and word loads them all at once giving 8 loads on top of each other using off 2003 and xp pro

 

Try copying the files from the floppy to the hard disk.

 

also try right clicking on one document and then click on open

If you copy all 8 to the HD in a single folder and try to open them individually the ordinary way (as you were doing when they're on floppy), IF they all try to work as a group still, ...

You can kill whatever the LINK is that somebody put in them (on purpose or by accident) by opening all eight and then saving them individually with slightly different filenames (original1, original2, ...). That'll break the connection; then you can delete the originals (the floppy versions) and you can rename the new copies with the old original names and have them work independently.
